The 2291 Bank in Locarno is the first of four 2291 banks made of natural stone, with which we are creating places for dialogue about the future in Switzerland’s four language regions. Each 2291 Bank is a place for relaxed thinking and reflection, for chatting with friends or people you have not met before. This is where exchange, new ideas, and unexpected perspectives emerge.

The 2291 Bank builds bridges between the most diverse generations, regions, and people of Switzerland. It offers space for family celebrations, August 1 speeches, as a destination for bike tours or school trips. It is a viewing bench in the Alps, stands in a forest clearing or by a lake, and inspires us to reflect on the big questions of our time - and perhaps to find unexpected conversations and answers.
For now and for the generations to come
Carved from natural stone – formed over millions of years – we are creating four unique 2291 banks. Each strong enough to serve as a stable platform for dialogue over the coming centuries. Each 2291 Bank weighs around 9.3 tons. A weighty place to let the future emerge and to celebrate it!
The 2291 banks are being realized in collaboration with the Swiss Natural Stone Association (NVS) and quarries from all over Switzerland. A careful selection of different stone from each region makes each of the four banks unique. A work of art for unforgettable get-togethers, surprising experiences, and new perspectives.
